Spirits Platform is continuing the rapid expansion of its portfolio with another agreement that will add The Macallan, Highland Park, The Famous Grouse and Cutty Sark whisky brands into its portfolio. The Edrington Group, owner of the four brands, announced this week that it had decided to move distribution of its world-renowned Scotch whiskies from Beam Suntory and partner Coca-Cola Amatil to Spirits Platform from 1 April.

Spirits Platform entered into whisky last year when it acquired the distribution rights for the Bruichladdich Single Malts and The Irishman. CEO Ian Atherton told drinks bulletin shortly after that the company would plan on increasing its presence in the category in the following months.

The Macallan is one of the world’s leading single malt whiskies at almost 200 years old and has been named The Rolls Royce of Malt and ‘the most expensive whisky sold at auction,’ according to the Guinness Book of World Records.

Highland Park comes from one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, established in 1798, and has won Best Spirit in the World three times. The Famous Grouse has also been the number one blended Scotch in Scotland for 36 years.

“We are thrilled at the opportunity to represent such an iconic portfolio of Scotch whiskies with an extensive history and commitment to quality,” said Atherton. “The Edrington Group whiskies are recognised amongst the best in the world.”
