This year’s Rye July will see The Gospel Rye whiskey dedicate the annual celebration to its signature serve, the classic Manhattan cocktail.

All month long, the Melbourne-based distillery is partnering with bars across the country to list the famous cocktail and give away major prizes to bartenders and consumers.

Consumers have the chance to win a ‘Manhattan Experience in Melbourne’ simply by ordering a Manhattan at participating venues and uploading the receipt to the competition website.

There are seven ‘Manhattan Experience’ prizes up for grabs, with one awarded to a winner in each state (except the Northern Territory).

The total prize package worth over $16,000 includes flights, an itinerary packed with Manhattan-inspired activities, welcome drinks with The Gospel crew, dinner and ‘Broadway’ show, a night at a comedy cellar, transport, and accommodation.

Bars can win too. The top ‘Manhattan selling and promoting’ venue in each state has the opportunity to score an ultra-limited, co-branded The Gospel barrel and 5L of The Gospel whiskey worth over $2,600.

“Rye July has grown into a key period for us to spread the good word about deliciously unpretentious Australian rye whiskey. The Manhattan Experience is a chance to dive even deeper, showcasing our signature serve in collaboration with bars across the country,” The Gospel Co-Founder Andrew Fitzgerald said.

“We currently have over 40 venues already confirmed to take part in this year’s Rye July festivities, with the list set to grow. We are honoured to continue to build The Gospel story with the help and support of iconic venues across the country. Rye July is an opportunity to further engage with our current and onboarding venues and allows us to encourage people to go to venues throughout July and discover the versatility and deliciousness of the Manhattan cocktail.”

The Gospel will kick start the month with its first project release for the year - Legacy Rye, a three-year-old whiskey distilled from a mashbill typical of a Maryland-style Rye - 59% unmalted rye sourced from the Murray Mallee region of South Australia, 35% Australian corn and 6% Australian malt barley.

Consumers can expect an event-packed Rye July calendar featuring exciting collaborations and events with the likes of Fancy Hank’s, Captain Melville, W Hotel Melbourne, Heartbreaker, Catfish, Bad Frankie’s, and the Adelaide Beer & BBQ Festival.
