Created in tribute of Hugo Gramp, former managing director of G. Gramp & Sons winery in the 1920s and 1930s, St Hugo wines has become hugely successful, accumulating in excess of 1000 wine show awards.
More than just wine tasting, guests will indulge in a multi-sensory experience, invited to relish by glass or flight beside an open fire, or on a deck overlooking the vineyard. Alternatively, private tastings are available for booking, located in the Home’s lower level. The complete range of St Hugo wines will be available, as well as a four “Private Collection” wines sold exclusively at the St Hugo home and a 1925 fortified wine made during the time Hugo Gramp managed the winery.
Chief Winemaker, Daniel Swincer, said, “We want visitors to feel welcome and to linger over a glass of St Hugo wine in the beautiful and historical setting. Our Private Collection wines give us the opportunity to present guests with a wine they haven’t seen before and to tell the story of some of the sub-regions of Barossa and Coonawarra behind the St Hugo blends using wine instead of words.”
Guests are invited to dine at the St Hugo restaurant during their visit, with locally renowned Executive Chef Mark McNamara at the helm of the kitchen and a choice of a four or eight-course degustation menu and wine pairing available.
St Hugo will also offer a range of fine wine tourism experiences for luxury seekers looking for more private bespoke experiences, away from the normal tourist bustle.
