The best pubs and restaurants in Western Australia were announced at the Little Creatures Gala Ball where The Royal Hotel Perth was named Perth's Best Hospitality Venue.

More than 1,00 guests attended the 2021 AHA-Aon Hospitality Awards for Excellence hosted at Crown Perth on Monday evening.

The new 10,000 sqm super-venue Treendale Farm Hotel (pictured below) was named Western Australia's Best Regional Hospitality Venue and took out the New Venue Award. Other notable awards include:

  • The Group Venue Operator Award: ARK Group
  • Cocktail Bar Award: Tiki as FK
  • Restaurant Award: Tonic & Ginger (The Old Synagogue)
  • Small Bar Award: Caballitos
  • Wine List Award: The Shorehouse

AHA (WA) CEO Bradley Woods said for the second year running, the gala ball was largest gathering of hospitality professionals anywhere in Australia, underscoring the fortunate position WA has enjoyed for much of the past 12 months.

“WA’s hotel and hospitality industry has continued to face challenges associated with COVID-19, but there is no question that we are in a far better situation than most, which has allowed us to host Australia’s largest hospitality industry event two years in a row,” Mr Woods said.

“Despite navigating several lockdowns, restrictions, border closures and the ongoing uncertainty of the pandemic, WA’s bars, pubs, hotels, taverns and restaurants have reached new levels of excellence in hospitality – these awards celebrate this determination and success.”

Perth Airport and Healthy Mind Menu were also announced as recipients of the Service to Australia Awards for their contribution to the WA community during the pandemic.

Over 800 nominations were submitted across 40 award categories.

Unfortunately people from out of state will not be able experience any of the venues before February 2022 with Premier McGowan announcing that the state borders will remain closed until 90 per cent of the state's population aged above 12 years old is fully vaccinated against COVID-19. That benchmark is not expected to be reached until late January or early February with Mr McGowan saying that a specific date will be set after the 80 per cent vaccine mark is reached.
