We love the way the marriage equality debate has lead many Aussie drinks companies, including Brown-Forman, GAYLE, Sparkke Beverage Co, Coca-Cola, Smirnoff, and more to come together to support the cause.
One of our favourite moves was the collaboration by vodka competitors Skyy and Absolut.
Skyy and Absolut have voiced strong support for equality over social media, and through various marketing campaigns.
The shared post - part of a social campaign from TBWA/Sydney and TBWA network agency Eleven - appeared on both Skyy and Absolut's social media accounts, depicting the two brands' bottles standing side by side, with a rainbow-colored heart in between, stating: "The Skyy's the limit when we have Absolut equality."
The two prominent brands certainly instigated significant conversation in Australia, and achieved a huge response and interaction over social media, with thousands of likes and comments.
Most recently Skyy hosted a #CheerstoEquality Launch Event, stating: “With our SKYY Vodka Equality cocktails and Joel Creasey as our MC, our #CheerstoEquality launch event was something else! Hats off to everyone involved, and we're so proud to offer our support to just.equal in their work towards achieving Marriage Equality in Australia! #LoveisLove,” Skyy noted on its Facebook page.
The company is also renowned for its regular advocacy posts over social media:
Meanwhile Absolut has a long history of supporting LGBTQ+ rights, and in 1981, it became the first mainstream brand to advertise in gay magazines. In July, the brand created a two-minute film that emphasises its heritage of LGBTQ+ support through a kissing relay called Equal Love - seen here:
