Starward has won the Australian Blended Whisky category at the 2019 World Whiskies Awards for Two-Fold.
The distillery also took home Gold in the Australian Single Malt Whisky category for Starward Solera.
Two-Fold was created by Starward to bring an accessible and approachable Australian whisky to the market, using Australian wheat and malted barley and matured for three “Melbourne years” in Australian red wine barrels.
Meanwhile Solera, the original single malt expression from Starward, is crafted using 100% malted barley and is solely matured in Australian fortified wine barrels named Apera.
Founder of Starward Whisky, David Vitale said: “I started Starward with a simple vision; offer the world a distinctly Australian whisky, with an ambition to be on every self-respecting back bar in the world. Just like Australian wine, we want to take our distinctly Australian flavour, attitude and approach to whisky to the world. “It’s a true honour to achieve global recognition at the World Whiskies Awards, demonstrating how close we are to making this vision a reality.”
The Australian winners were announced as part of round one of the Awards. More than 40 international industry experts attended the tasting and gave their scores to the best whiskies in the word. These will be announced at the Whisky Magazine Awards dinner in London on March 28.
Other Aussie winners were:

New Make - Tasmanian Moonshine Company Tasmanian Malt
Single Cask Single Malt 12 Years & Under - Sullivans Cove French Oak
Single Malt 12 Years & Under - Hellyers Road Distillery Slightly Peated 10 Years Old
