The inaugural UK People’s Choice Wine Awards is now open to international wine submissions. It is the only independent national wine awards to be judged by consumers rather than wine experts.

Although the profile of the average wine consumer has changed drastically in the last 20 years, the Awards understands that the way wine is marketed is not reflective of those changes. The UK People's Choice Wine Awards was created by Cracking wine, an events business founded by current WSET Diploma student Janet Harrison, who believes the wine world has not caught up with other drinks categories in terms of consumer engagement.

The competition focuses on the way wine drinkers search for, buy and consume wine, with the understanding that a large proportion of consumers now consult peer reviews before purchasing.

The awards categories are geared towards the reasons behind purchase decisions and include wines such themes as wines to share with friends, food-friendly wines, innovative wines, blogger favourites and wines that are kind to the earth.

Interested suppliers and producers will have the unique opportunity to learn how consumers truly view their wines.

The deadline for wine submissions is midnight on Friday 9 June 2017. For more information and to find out how to submit, follow this link.
