The seven finalists in the Plantation Rum Cup competition have been announced.
Organisers say they were delighted with the response to the competition for the bar team competition of 2022 based on the notion that a venues is only as good as the sum of its parts. The contest is open to all hospitality industry workers from bartenders to chefs, bar backs and hosts.
The seven finalists are:
- 18th Amendment, Geelong. Cocktail: Breakfast with Pierre
- Mr Brightside Rooftop Bar, Christchurch, New Zealand. Cocktail: Dreadlock Holiday.
- Pineapple on Parnell, Auckland, New Zealand. Cocktail: ‘The Brass Pineapple 2.07’.
- Santé Cocktail Bar, Toowoomba. Cocktail: Bonbonnet
- Teresa Cocktail Bar, Napier, New Zealand. Cocktail: The Boccioni’s Punch
- The Howling Owl, Adelaide. Cocktail: Drunken Owl (pictured right)
- The Lobo, Sydney. Cocktail: XOXO cocktail
The winning team will be announced on Monday, 5 September at Grain Bar in Sydney where guests will be able to sample the delicious Plantation Rum Cup cocktails made especially for the contest. First prize is a trip for the team to Barbados to visit West Indies Rum Distillery where Plantation Rum is crafted.
Teams are judged before the celebration event on the following criteria:
- Cocktail taste
- Cocktail appearance
- Presentation to judges
