Vickery Wines has released its first-ever Reserve range following the  exceptional 2017 vintages in the Watervale and Eden Valley regions.

An acknowledged old master of Australian Riesling, John Vickery has dedicated his career to producing Rieslings that age well and have maximum flavour, with the winery noting that the 2017 Reserve wines have been produced to epitomise this philosophy.

The two Reserve wines have been made from small parcels from Chris and Anthony Koerner’s ‘G6 Block’ in  Watervale and Ben Zander’s ‘Kosi Block’ in Eden Valley.

According to Vickery Wines, during the 2017 vintage classification these two  wines stood out for their quality, character and aging potential.

Both wines were key components of the  2017 White Label blends, however small amounts were bottled separately and matured in Vickery’s  temperature-controlled cellars for 30 months prior to release.

Alongside the Reserves are the 2019 releases of Vickery’s White Label Watervale and Eden Valley Rieslings. Despite the challenges of a low-yielding 2019 vintage, Vickery Wines says both wines exhibit distinctive regional character, and beautiful varietal flavours.

This 2019 vintage is the first to be produced under the guidance of Keeda Zilm, who has formally assumed custodianship of John’s signature winemaking philosophy.

Zilm joined the winemaking team in 2018, alongside John Vickery and Phil Lehmann, following 16 years at O’Leary Walker Wines in the Clare Valley  where she has overseen the fruit intake of every Vickery Watervale Riesling since the first vintage in 2014.

The 2017 Reserves and 2019 White Label Eden Valley Riesling are available at vickerywines.com.au, on-premise and in independent fine wine retailers.

The 2019 White Label Watervale Riesling is also available nationally at Dan Murphy’s and BWS.
