The Winemakers’ Federation of Australia (WFA) Chairman Sandy Clark has today announced at the WFA Annual General Meeting that the Australian wine sector is well poised to take advantage of good market conditions over the coming year.

“The dominance of both China and the United States suggest they will remain a focus for Australian exporters over the next few years. This is also a principal focus of the $50 million Export and Regional Wine Support Package,” said Mr Clark.

“WFA continues to build a strong platform for Australian winemakers to improve their profitability.

“WFA works on behalf of all winemakers of all sizes and business needs. We have seen another strong performance from WFA this year,” he said.

Additionally, Mr Clark announced a new board member: Edward Swift.

“Ed is a strong advocate for small winemakers and will be a welcome addition to the Board,” he said.

Mr Swift brings to the WFA significant industry experience, having established and managed Orange-based Swift Sparkling with his brother Dave Swift since 2010.

Mr Clarke also acknowledges former and present board members: “I would like to thank outgoing Board member, Redmond Sweeny, for his tireless devotion to the industry.

“WFA has a first class Board and I have enjoyed working with them over the past year. WFA is going from strength to strength and I look forward to another productive year serving the industry. I feel the best is yet to come.”

The WFA is a federated Board of three Committees, representing large, medium and small members. On behalf of the Board, Mr Clark also congratulated the new members appointed today on the committees.

The Winemakers’ Federation of Australia was established in 1990 as the peak national body for the wine industry, representing wineries on national and international issues.
