The Women in drinks council is looking forward to celebrating International Women's Day with more than 450 guests on Wednesday, March 8.

The event, which will focus on 'Building a diversity mindset in the drinks industry', begins with drinks and canapes at 11.30am. 

Women in drinks charity partner is The Australia New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group, the national peak organisation for gynaecological cancer clinical trials in Australia and New Zealand, with $15 from each seat ticket being donated to ANZGOG to support ongoing research.

As an additional fundraiser for ANZGOG, a raffle will be held during lunch, with fabulous prizes including:

Raffle tickets are being sold at $100 per book of 20, with guests being encouraged to get together with their tablemates to pool their cash to purchase!   

GUEST SPEAKER

Mia Freedman will be the keynote speaker at the event. 

Mia is a journalist, author, activist and co-founder of Mamamia, the largest independent women’s website in Australia. She was named one of Australia’s 100 Most Influential Women by the Financial Review and is a former chair of the federal government’s Body Image Advisory Board. She remains a passionate campaigner for more diversity in the way the media portrays women.

INDUSTRY PANEL DISCUSSES DIVERSITY

Following dessert, an industry panel - moderated by the drink association Chair Ralph Dunning - will discuss ‘Bringing diversity and inclusion to life’.

The panel will include Martin Smith, Endeavour Drinks Group; Jane Hill, Talent and Change Director, Lion; Shane Richardson, Coca-Cola Amatil; Kylie McPherson, Diageo.

Among the topics covered by the panel will be where the responsibility lies for promoting greater gender diversity in leadership roles; cultural barriers to diversity in the drinks industry; and how companies can empower women to lead. 

The discussion will kick off at 3pm and will be followed by networking from 4-5pm.
