The International Spirits Challenge (ISC) in London has named William Grant & Sons (WG&S) 'Distiller of the Year'. The title is the top honour at ISC and recognises the independent family distillers as among the best in the world.

Overall, ISC was a great success for WG&S, which also received Scotch Producer of the Year and Liqueurs Producer of the Year.

Simon Hunt, CEO of WG&S, said, “We are absolutely delighted at being named ‘Distiller of the Year’ and to be recognised by our peers in this way is an incredible achievement. It is testament to the hard work the whole team puts in to crafting our award winning portfolio of premium spirits.

“As a family run business we take great pride in taking a long-term view and fostering a culture of innovation. We have a great portfolio of high quality premium spirits, each offering something unique and interesting.”

In trophies, WG&S won the Single Malt Scotch 12 Years Old and Under Trophy (The Balvenie Single Barrel First Fill Aged 12 Years), Single Malt Scotch No Age Statement Trophy (Glenfiddich Malt Master), Liqueur Trophy (Drambuie) and The Design and Packaging New Product Range Trophy (The Balvenie DCS Compendium Chapter 1).

All up, the company won six trophies, 23 gold medals, 34 silver and eight bronze.

A spokesperson for the ISC said: “What a fantastic year for William Grant. Their success across so many categories has seen them take home this coveted prize. It is one thing to excel at making one product type successfully, but to do so consistently across many different spirit categories is what really sets this award winning company apart.”
