Wolf Blass has launched its 2023 Luxury Collection, five wines across three tiers to honour founder Wolfgang Blass' commitment to winemaking.
Chris Hatcher, Chief Winemaker at Wolf Blass, said he believes this year's portfolio reflects Australian winemaking at its best.
"Wolf forged a new path in luxury Australian Wines, always setting a much higher standard amongst his peers and this philosophy remains as relevant today to the 2023 Luxury Collection as when he first began over 50 years ago," said Hatcher.
The collection features three Grey Label wines, one Black Label and a Premium label, all firmly rooted in Wolf Blass' Barossa heritage.
Hatcher describes the iconic Grey label wines, the first to bear the Wolf Blass name, as "three dignified wines [that] represent the benchmark styles of their regions, showcasing varieties that carry a definitive sense of place."
Wolf Blass' first ultra-premium Black Label wine was made in 1973, winning a record four Jimmy Watson Trophies, Australia's most prestigious wine award.
The Back Label "put the winery on the map and embodies the history, style and quality of Wolf Blass, establishing itself as one of Australia's greatest wines," said Hatcher.
To complete the collection, the Platinum Label is the winery's "ultimate wine", described by Hatcher as "the manifestation of unique terroir and vineyard excellence, enhanced with our winemakers' experience and skill."
The wines that form part of the 2023 Luxury Collection are:
- Grey Label Piccadilly Valley Chardonnay 2022 – RRP $40
- Grey Label McLaren Vale Shiraz 2021 – RRP $45
