De Bortoli Wines are adding to the Woodfired range following the success of the Heathcote Shiraz, Heathcote Cabernet Sauvignon, and Heathcote Sparkling Shiraz with a dark fruited, rich yet soft Heathcote Grenache.

Crafted by Chief Winemaker Steve Webber and sourced from the vineyards in the northern sections of Heathcote, Woodfired encapsulates the unique geography, climate and growing conditions of Victoria's home of big reds. The range is recognisably dense and complex with ripe dark fruits, cedar-wood and balance that pair perfectly with any char-grilled foods.

“There is a resurgence of woodfired oven cuisine and charcoal cooking in Australia and we are always looking for wines to match. The combination of the really warm climate and rich deep red soils in Heathcote really come through in the Woodfired wines that perfectly suit the charcoal and smoke flavours," said Steve Webber.

The Woodfired range has been incredibly successful and made a lasting impression in the global wine circuit since it first launched in 2015, and has no plans on slowing down. The range has won a host of awards, including trophies, gold and silver medals. In particular, the Shiraz has won a staggering 49 awards since its launch in 2015, with the Sparkling Shiraz being awarded 19 following its introduction in 2017 and finally, with one of our newest releases, Cabernet Sauvignon, taking out 26 awards since 2018.

With the recent demand for Grenache in Australia over the last few years, adding this fragrant wine to the range was the logical next step. Giving an intense medium colour, ripe blueberry and dark cherry characteristics, this Grenache will give you a soft mouth coating that is authentically Heathcote.

“These wines are big, bold and go really well with charcoal flavours from the bbq. I really love it because it is soft, round and plush” says Kate Webber, 4th generation winemaker.
