The annual list of the world's best bars will be unveiled in Singapore this year, marking the celebrations' first time leaving Europe.

In its 15th year spotlighting the world's best cocktail destinations, the live ceremony will take place on 17 October at the Pasir Panjang power station in the city-state's busy docks.

"We are thrilled to bring The World's 50 Best Bars community to Singapore, our first foray outside Europe and an opportunity to celebrate a magnificent year for bars and bartenders in one of the world's finest cocktail cities," said Mark Sansom, Content Director for The World's 50 Best Bars.

The winning list of The World's 50 Best Bars 2023 will be voted for autonomously by a gender-balanced Academy of more than 650 international bartenders, consultants, writers and cocktail specialists, with the results adjudicated by Deloitte.

"We look forward to honouring the accomplishments of those who breathe life into the bar scene and to inspire cocktail lovers to use our list and discover the greatest bars in the world," said Sansom.

Coming together to mark the achievements of the past year, celebrate global talent and recognise the very best in international cocktail culture, the event program is jam-packed with exciting events, including the Bartenders' Feast, followed by the glamorous awards night featuring red carpet arrivals and drinks reception.

New this year will be a series of five live 50 Best Signature Sessions held at Singapore's top bars, where local aficionados and the public will be able to sample drinks from the world's best.

In the lead-up to the ceremony, 50 Best will reveal the 51st - 100th best bars on its website and social media accounts as well as the winners of two auxiliary awards, one to highlight the exceptional achievements of a bar, the Michter's Art of Hospitality award and one to award an outstanding bartender, the Altos Bartenders' Bartender award.

A win for the global drinks industry, the ceremony is also a win for Singapore. Guo Teyi, Director, Retail & Dining, Singapore Tourism Board, said: "We are honoured that Singapore is the first host city outside Europe for The World's 50 Best Bars.

"This affirms Singapore's position as a world-class F&B destination. We hope the event will also open doors for our local talents, give them global exposure on a renowned platform and facilitate knowledge exchange within the global bar community."
