This week's release of Yering Station’s 2017 Reserve wines marks the 20th anniversary since the first Reserve wines were made at the Estate.

The Reserve wines pay homage to Yering Station’s tireless pursuit of producing fine wine, with vintages only released from seasons with the best growing conditions.

Reserve wines include Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz Viognier and Cabernet Sauvignon.

These wines capture the best of the season and variety, with structure and elegance that epitomise the place from which they are grown and made.

“This year we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first release of our Reserve Wines," said CEO and Winemaker Darren Rathbone.

“Since 1997 we have been striving to produce the perfect expression of Yarra Valley wines. Combining traditional techniques, modern technology, a scientific approach and passion for great wine, we are continually learning, and as a result, each year our wines get that little bit better.

"The Yering Station Reserve wines reflect our vineyards and the attention to detail which result in age worthy wines of finesse and elegance.”

In addition to the four Reserve wines, Yering Station is also releasing the highly anticipated third vintage of the Scarlett Pinot Noir, crafted in extremely limited quantities.

This wine celebrates the legacy of Yering Station’s Technical Viticulturist, Nathan Scarlett (1975-2013). His pioneering work with precision viticulture and the application of the latest research to their vineyards led to the identification of the exceptional small vineyard area of Pinot Noir that consistently produced outstanding parcels of fruit.

Willy Lunn, Chief Winemaker of Yering Station, said: “The real magic of this wine is in its inherent purity and balance, driven by the special patch of dirt where this fruit is grown. My job is to take that unique sense of place and capture it in the glass.”

The wines of the 2017 Yering Station Reserves are:

2017 Yering Station Reserve Chardonnay – RRP $130 – described as having a lively mineral backbone complemented by stone fruits, vanilla cream and bright acidity.

2017 Yering Station Reserve Pinot Noir – RRP $130 – described as being compelling and complex with a seamlessly integrated palate. Black cherries meet Satsuma plums, finishing with fine velvet-like tannins.
