Peter Lehmann Wines has added a new wine range to its portfolio: BAROSSAN X. The new range seeks to provide modern twists on classic Barossa Valley Shiraz by combining the dominant grape with small amounts of alternative varietals.

According to Senior Brand Manager Alfred Loo, the new wine range seeks to “rewrite the rules of traditional Barossa Shiraz, introducing three exceptional varietals that showcase the diversity and vibrance of our vineyards.”

The three BAROSSAN X expressions are named Twisted, Daring, and Radical, featuring Tempranillo, Montepulciano, and Touriga respectively.

“We are thrilled to release this new range as a celebration of innovation and creativity in winemaking,” said Winemaker Lauren Hutton.

“BAROSSAN X embodies our commitment to innovation while staying true to the unparalleled quality that defines Peter Lehmann Wines.”

The Peter Lehmann Wines BAROSSAN X range is available now at BWS and Dan Murphy’s stores at an RRP of $23.

Peter Lehmann Wines describe the three wines as followed:

BAROSSAN X Twisted Shiraz: Shiraz with a twist of Tempranillo. Medium-intensity ruby-red core with a bright crimson hue. Aromas of lifted red cherry and delicious varietal notes of Turkish delight and ripe dried fig gained from the Tempranillo. The palate is medium-bodied with a bright textural mid-palate possessing a firm grip, reminiscent of the varietal’s Spanish roots. The finish is vibrant and bright-fruited with a length of lightly toasted cedar oak notes and savoury dried fruits.

BAROSSAN X Daring Shiraz: Shiraz with a dash of Montepulciano. Medium intensity ruby-red with bright garnet hues. On the nose, rich aromas of blueberry, plum and dark fruits intertwined with violet and spice from Montepulciano. The palate is full-bodied with a textural midpalate dominated by bright red fruits and with nuances of dark fruits, chocolate and cedar oak. The finish is vibrant and satisfying, leaving a long trail of generous juicy fruit and full palate tannin.

BAROSSAN X Radical Shiraz: Shiraz with a splash of Touriga. A medium-intensity ruby-red core with a bright purple hue hint towards the aromas of lifted red plum, blackberry that compliments the delicious varietal notes of sour cherry and dried thyme gained from the Touriga. The palate is medium-bodied with a bright textural mid-palate possessing a firm grip, reminiscent of the varietal’s Italian roots. The finish is vibrant and bright fruited with a length of lightly toasted cedar oak notes and savoury dried fruits.
