Calabria Family Wine Group has entered into a distribution partnership with Ponting Wines, the wine brand founded by Australian cricket icon Ricky Ponting and winemaker Ben Riggs. In addition to his work with Ponting, Riggs is also celebrated for Mr Riggs Wine Co, the wine label he founded in 2001.
The new partnership will see the distribution rights of the entire Ponting Wines portfolio be transferred from current distributor Saint Wines to Calabria Family Wine Group from the start of October.
“My family are excited to partner with another family-owned wine business in the Calabria Family Wine Group,” said Ricky Ponting.
“We see obvious synergies and clear opportunities for Ponting Wines, as we look to continue our growth. We look forward to working closely with the Calabria family.”
Since being launched to market in 2020, Ponting Wines has earned more than 50 gold medals at domestic and international shows, including Platinum and 97 points at The Decanter World Wine Awards for the 2018 Ponting 366, backed up by Gold and 95 points for the 2019 the following year. In recent months, the Ponting The Pinnacle McLaren Vale Shiraz 2022 received 95 points and a Gold medal at the International Wine and Spirits Competition.

This week’s news also follows on from the exclusive partnership between Ponting Wines and Royal Caribbean announced in October last year. As part of this partnership, six of Ponting’s wines were made available by the bottle and by the glass on three of Royal Caribbean’s cruise ships.

- Ponting Riana Rose Fleurieu Peninsula, SA
All eight wines will be available to order from Calabria Family Wine Group from 1 October 2024.
