The owners of Maybe Sammy are packing their bags for New York, where they’ll take part in an international pop-up at renowned aperitivo bar Dante.
The iconic bar and café in Greenwich Village is welcoming four of their favorite aperitivi bars from around the world, starting April 8.
The bars participating are:
Week 1 - ODORI (Athens) – April 8-12
Week 2 - LE SIRENUSE (Miami) – April 15-19
Week 3 - MAYBE FRANK (Sydney) – April 22-26
Week 4 - KWANT (London) – April 29-April 30
Maybe Sammy’s residency is being supported by Australia’s own Regal Rogue vermouth, with Maybe Sammy co-owners Andrea Gualdi, Stefano Catino and Vince Lombardo are all flying over for the stint.
Gualdi will be serving up eight cocktails featuring Regal Rogue – Marilyn Monroe, Dean Martin, Poolside with Slim Aarons, The Doris Day, Maybe Sammy Martini, Harry Houdini, Sophia Loren and Ernest Hemingway.
“We’re so excited to bring some of the best bars in the world to Dante for this really unique series of pop ups.”, said Dante’s Creative Director, Naren Young. “Not only are we obsessed by the vermouth category at Dante and growing its popularity within New York, but these venues also represent a new wave that are also shining a light on vermouth in their own cities. It will be amazing to see the various bartending styles and creativity that each of them brings to the Big Apple."
Maybe Sammy opened a 1950s Vegas-inspired cocktail bar in The Rocks earlier this year and also owns two pizza joints in Surry Hills and Randwick.
Gualdi is the group’s creative director and took out the 2017 Australian Bartender Of The Year award at the Diageo Reserve World Class Competition.
Regal Rogue launched in 2011 as the first native Australian vermouth in more than 20 years.
