Simon Durrant has today announced he will step down from his current role as Managing Director of Campari Australia, a role he has held for the past six years.

Reflecting on the news, Campari’s Asia Pacific CEO Matthijs Kramer said “Simon has made a significant impact to the Campari Australian and APAC business and his calm, level-headed, approach will be missed. We wish him well for the future and he’ll always be welcome back at a Campari Bar for an Aperol Spritz or Negroni.”

Throughout his six year tenure as Campari Australia’s Managing Director, Durrant led the business through a period of rapid growth and expansion which saw the company grow to become a key player in the Australian market.

This includes achievements such as increasing focus on positive cultural development, leading an office move to North Sydney, achieving consecutive Great Place to Work recognition, navigating the difficult pandemic trading conditions, and leading significant company growth towards increased diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The past six years also saw Campari significantly diversify its portfolio beyond Wild Turkey, led in part by Aperol’s successful partnership with the Australian Open, the rapid growth of Espolon Tequila, and through the launch of RTD options.

Simon Durrant has decided to step away from the company due to family circumstances limiting his capacity to leave the country. His resignation will take effect on 10 July, after which the vacated position will be filled by current Managing Director of Mexico and Central America Jacopo Borsa.

Jacopo Borsa, who brings with him 20 years of experience at Campari in markets as diverse as Spain, Jamaica, and Mexico, has a strong track record in aperitifs, on-trade channels, and RTD, making him well suited to anticipated continued growth of the RTD category over coming years.

Borsa is well positioned to continue Campari Australia’s strong growth trajectory kickstarted under Durrant’s time as Managing Director and will be relocating to Sydney soon to begin working towards a seamless transition.
