Taylors Wines has officially opened its new cellar door following the completion of an ambitious multi-million dollar project, the first significant upgrade since the winery was established in 1969.

Led by GP Architects, Cook Building and Georgie Shepherd Interior Design, the new build sees the cellar door moving from the main winery building to a purpose-built extension of the original homestead on the property’s front lawn.

Mitchell Taylor, third-generation Winemaker and Managing Director of Taylors Wines said opening a new cellar door is just the beginning of an exciting new phase for the family winery.

“This is the beginning of an exciting new era for our family winery. We wanted to elevate the experience with this new cellar door, so there are no half-measures.

“Every detail in the project is considered, with design features that are sophisticated while being warm and inviting. The space truly reflects our family and the Taylors story, and we hope it will be the first point of call for visitors to our wonderful region,” he said.

The new building features five distinct areas for visitors: the Main Tasting Room, The Courtyard, The East Patio, The Event Pavilion and the Collector’s Club members’ tasting room.

Kristina Soggee, Senior Project Architect at GP Architects, said: “Our goal has been to create a space that epitomises both Taylors Wines and the Clare Valley – it’s an original style all of its own.”

Featuring premium, natural materials, including limestone, oak, leather and terrazzo, as well as a custom-designed circular fireplace and purpose-built Event Pavilion, the project oozes rustic charm reflecting the Clare Valley’s natural, year-round beauty.

At an impressive scale, a recreation of Taylors’ signature three seahorse emblem made of weathered steel dominates the main entryway, standing as a tribute to the Taylor family’s discovery of fossilised seahorses in the vineyard’s limestone bedrock 50 years ago.

As part of the launch, Taylors has introduced a new range of tasting experiences. For more information or to book online, visit www.taylorswines.com.au/visit-us-cellar-door
