Dwayne The Rock Johnson is developing his own brand of tequila.

The WWE legend turned Hollywood star spent last weekend taste testing every batch of his new tequila fresh out of the barrels from Mexico.

The Rock is one of the world's most loved and highest paid actors - he earned $US124million from June 2017 to June 2018.

In a message posted on Instagram he wrote: “I’m very passionate about my new tequila we’re developing. It’s been years in the making and every road has led here. Lots of growing excitement. Mana, passion, positivity, hard work and fun. This ones for you world, let’s have a drink. “

The accompanying photo showed him with tester samples of silver, reposado and anejo tequilas.

Tequila sales in the US continue to skyrocket. Last year, 17.2 million 9-liter cases of tequila were sold, an 8.5% increase from 2016, according to the Distilled Spirits Council.

Celebrities including George Clooney, Diddy, and Justin Timberlake have already jumped on the tequila-making bandwagon.

The Rock hasn't revealed what his tequila will be called but, according to documents obtained by TMZ, his company secured the trademark rights to name the brand "Mana" last year. The name is a nod to Johnson's heritage, translating to the Polynesian word that refers to the supernatural "spirit" or essence that exists in people and objects.
