It's been a huge week for Tasmanian bartender Rohan Massie - he's been announced as a finalist in both the Angostura Cocktail Challenge and Patrón Perfectionists Cocktail Competition.
Actually, it's been a huge year - he also scored a spot in the Top 20 of Diageo World Class a few months ago.
Massie is the manager of Rude Boy in Hobart, a Caribbean-inspired rum bar and restaurant.
Held every second year, the Angostura Cocktail Challenge is considered to be one of the toughest competitions on the circuit. The final six were selected by world famous bartender and spirits expert Philip Duff.
Rude Boy is actually celebrating two of its bartenders winning places in the Aussie final of the Angostura Cocktail Challenge.
Massie and his compatriot Campbell Nicol will compete opposite the other four finalists in the final of Monday, September 16.
The bar said it was “proud as punch” about the announcement.
“Both Rohan and Campbell have made it to the top six for Angostura Cocktail Challenge National Finals. Two out of six baby! Well done champs, bring it home for Tassie.”
The Oceania final of the Angostura Global Cocktail Challenge will be held at Smoke at Barangaroo in Sydney on Monday, September 16.
Massie also impressed the Patrón Perfectionists Cocktail Competition judges with his cocktail ‘Summertime Queen’ (above).
The drink features Patrón Silver, Kunzea syrup, Tasmanian bush honey, lime, cream, egg white, sparkling carbonic fermented raspberry wine and dust made from dehydrated raspberry wine pulp.
