Celebrating 173 years this month, Australia’s oldest family-owned winery Yalumba has experienced its busiest October yet, with demand for the Barossa winery's new experiences and tastings at an all time high.

October has seen the highest number of visitors compared to the same period over the past five years, with more than 2,000 people visiting the Yalumba Wine Room.

“October has always been one of our busiest months for visitors, with the warmer weather and people travelling during school holidays, but this season has been incredible,” says Yalumba Manager Tourism & Hospitality, Lisa Anderson.

“We have been working hard over the past three years to put together a program of tastings and tours which are meaningful and offer an insight into the history of this beautiful winery. We find guests exploring the Barossa are searching for authentic experiences that allow them to learn more about the vineyards, the region and our family heritage, as well as discover wines exclusive to the Wine Room."

The most popular experience has been the Yalumba Unlocked Tour, a two-hour private tour of Australia’s only onsite winery Cooperage where guests can learn about the art of barrel making, along with a tour of the estate grounds and historic buildings, finishing with a tasting of our finest wines hosted by a Yalumba Ambassador whilst sharing a Cooper’s Platter of local artisanal produce.

Other experiences include the Icons of Yalumba experience, a progressive wine tasting through the estate; or the Signature Tour including access to hand-selected vineyards, tastings of our Rare & Fine wines and a private lunch.

The Yalumba Wine Room Team led by Daniel Kavanagh were recently announced as a finalist in the Wine Communicator Awards as Best Wine Communicator – Cellar Door, which is a testament to their dedication and work in sharing the Yalumba story with visitors.

The Yalumba Wine Room offers a variety of tasting flights, including cellar door exclusives and rare museum releases. Open daily 10am – 5pm. Walk-ins are welcome but bookings are recommended for experiences and tasting flights at yalumba.com.
